EVEREST Holds Second Consortium Meeting in Ljubljana

The EVEREST consortium met in Ljubljana on 14-15 September 2026 for its second Consortium Meeting, hosted by the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI). Consortium partners and members of the External Expert Advisory Board came together for two days of exchange.

Now in its third year, EVEREST is well underway and firmly on track. Over the two days, partners reviewed progress since the first Consortium Meeting in Budapest and shared updated results across the project's core activities. Source term assessment work has made particularly strong progress, with the first publications now emerging that demonstrate the added value of high-fidelity codes over conventional approaches, including for the uncertainty quantification of reactor pressure vessel fluence. On the experimental and modelling side, momentum continues to build: models of the research reactors are nearly complete, validation work has now begun in parallel, and the advanced experimental setups have reached a mature design stage, paving the way for new experimental data in the coming months.

The meeting was also an opportunity for partners to visit JSI's TRIGA Mark II research reactor, a fitting backdrop to two days of discussions spanning the project's source term assessment activities, including dedicated sessions on the Paks and Grohnde case studies, and the experimental and modelling work carried out on the research reactors at JSI, BME and EK, together with the development of uncertainty quantification schemes, before closing with feedback from the External Expert Advisory Board and the Governing Board Meeting.

Looking ahead, project participants will continue to present EVEREST and its results at various conferences and scientific forums throughout the coming year.

A big thank you goes to JSI for hosting this meeting and to all participants for their commitment and collaboration. Together, we are driving innovation for safer, more sustainable energy.
